Networking and Production

The Industry is dedicated to empowering students of all majors, ages, and classifications to learn how to make movies and short films. Not every member of the Industry is a part of the Entertainment Media Studies major, or even a part of Grady, but the Industry wants to make the knowledge of production and every aspect of it (directing, producing, camera operation, sound, and much more) accessible to all members.

Talk to anyone in entertainment and they’ll tell you the best way to make it in this industry is to network. To support you and make it as easy (and fun) as possible, the Industry holds several events throughout the semester for networking for your next film project, meeting other creative students, talking to professionals in creative industries through panels and lectures, and making friends.

With the Industry, students have the amazing opportunity to create their own films and work on a film set, and the first step is to write a script. If you’re interested in workshopping a script (or need an idea of where to start), check out The Industry Writers’ Room here. The second step, of course, is to pitch your idea to the members of The Industry, where members can then request to work on your film as a crew member.

If you’re interested in pitching to the Industry, send a request to the Industry production leaders by emailing theugaindustry@gmail.com with the subject line “Pitch Request”.
